Eagle Leaving

So  a  flight  around  this  little  bay  before  leaving  for  the  fish  plant  and  chances  of  fish  food.

Eagle Eyes

These  two  were  just  looking  around  and  not  much  else.  Finally  they  few  a  few  circles  and  then  left  for  Portugese  Joe's  Fish  processing  place  further  up  this  [ Dyke ]  road.

Eagle not at all bald

Bald  eagles,  but  just  an  error  on  our  pioneer's   part.  Never  ever  saw  a  really  bald  eagle.

Heron & Gunnel Fish

Heron  eat  these  plentiful  gunnel  fish  all  day  long  and  never  seem  to  get  fat.  Hummm.

Weed on Post

The  fickle  winds  of  fate  and  fortune  blew  a  seed  onto  this  old  post  in  the  ocean.  Seems  to  be  enjoying  life.  No  tree  could  choke  out  the  sunlight.

One ' Expert'  suggests  this  is  the  result  of  an  air born  battle  during  spring  mating  fights.

Fish  parts  are  about  to  be  scooped  up.

Junior  has  a  fish  head  on  the  beach.   Not  for  long  though.

Junior  is  looking  like  a  serious  adult  Eagle.   They  are  all  too  serious.

Mom or Sitter?

This Merganser  was  in  charge  of  22  young  ones.   Baby  sitter  or  Mom?   I  read  where  they  do  look  after  each  others  kids.  This  one  looks  like  a  fairly  young  gal.

Butterfly..Swallowtail?

This  yellow  beauty  had  important  business  elsewhere  and  only  stopped  for  two  shots.  Not  the  best  POV  but  not so bad   either.

One  of  22  or  so  young  ones  on  the  Courtenay  River  at  Lewis  Park.

Seals Prefer to Share

Wolves  and  dogs  would  fight  over  this  fresh  food  but  seals  seem  so  mellow  by  comparison.
