Button pod lilly pad
This pond is only about 400 yards from the sea shore in a small park in Comox B.C.
Other inland ponds have lilly pad blooms in yellow yet there are no button like centers to them. A new variety to my eyes at least.

Butterfly lace
Have you seen this butterfly before? He is a new one to me. Only had a chance for one
image... facing away. Flew up high into the tree and out of sight. Oh well, better than no
image at all.

Butterfly..[ Tiny [
I was careful not to crop to tight on this tiny BF. ePhotozine.com rejects images below a
certain small size. Odd to see a touch of brown in the wing. Usually all blue. TG

Dragon..Not so special
I thought this was uncommon but was soon deflated to see one exactly like it uploaded to
ePhotozine.com. His was better than this too. Ouch! TG

Wise Amusement
After a long lazy scratching session this old raven relaxed while regarding me with what seemed like amusement. He may have a point. Why would anyone bother to flick treats to the gulls?
Looong Scratch
Ravens around here are usually very suspicious and distant. This old boy is the exception. He was perfectly at ease in my close company as you can see here with a long and lazy scratching performance. He settled down to a droopy eyed and amused expression as I flicked treats to the gulls.

Heron Regular flight
This image is the standard blue heron in flight. Handy for comparison to the next heron image where the in flight attitude is different and will win you a bet at your local pub.
Heron Scat
If this image looks a little odd, you noticed correctly. There are FAA rules against this reckless elimination behaviour. This heron was flying over Lazo swamp and of course all creatures who live there are at risk. You can win a bet at your local pub. Blue herons do really spread their legs when breaking FAA regulations.

Families Log
The geese just arrived and so the mergansers and chicks choose to depart rather than put up with the less refined Canada geese.
Dove Departure
Dove departing. They are new around here and very wary. Smart too as they know when you are interested in them. One has to be discreet while aiming the lens.
Mink the classic black shadow
This is the traditional pose for this rocky ocean side black shadow mink. I was so pleased to finally get images of this evasive shadow that I uploaded several images of him. Hope you can forgive the repetition.
Mink Look
This guy was so difficult to finally get images of that you will forgive these several similar photo uploads. I hope...please, thanks.

Mink in the Wild
This guy has been the most secretive and hidden target of any animal or bird. I would see a dark shadow move on the shoreline rocks where I photograph wildlife daily. I think he is an expert at staying hidden due to the number of sharp eyed eagles around here.
Dark Shadow
A shadow seen from the corrner of the eye among ocean side rocks. Months went by before getting these half decent images. Long and strong. Check that powerful left hand.
Mink..wild seaside
Finally, the Black Phantom is captured digitally. This little rascal has been an evasive shadow in the rocks along seaside in Comox Bay for months. Our Canadian Tazmanian??
That is a fish he is munching on. Swims like an otter.
