Whatever  this  happens  to  be,  I  was  impressed  with  its  tiny  delicate  size  and  detail.

Yellow Rump Sunning

This  calm  Yellow Rump  was  getting  his  back  warmed  and  while  alert  looking  ha  may  have  been  dozing  with  eyes  wide  open.

Deer Downtown

This  self  assured  spring  shaggy  coat  is  standing  on  the  Lorne Hotel  site  in  downtown  Comox.  He  knows  the  golf  course  is  nearby.

Girls on Alert

These  two  young  ladies  were  not  worried  about  me  really.  They  had  a  few  horse  friends  nearby  and  there  was  a  deep  water-filled  ditch  between  me  and  the  farmer's  fence.

Hare moment to study human

This  healthy  looking  silver-tip  paused  for  a  moment  to  study  me  and  the  camera.  Only  for  a  second  though and  then dashed.

Crab for Racoon

This  looks  like  good  food.  No  Racoon  would  turn  it  down.   Why  does  Racoon  come  into  this?   Stay  tuned.

Racoon Senior

This  older  racoon  seems  to  be  doing  well  considering  his  vision  is  impaired.   He  was  shuffling  along  the  beach  in    morning  light.  Finding  and  eating  crab  no  doubt.  Most  racoons  work  at  night  but  this  fellow  is  on  day  shift  due  to  poor  night  vision. TG

Trillium [I'm told]

While  there  have  been  many  great  blooms  in  the  bush  and  by  the  beach,  this  one  seems  to  be  in   very  good  focus.  Handheld.
OK,  I  know,  use  a  tripod  for  more  sharp  images  like  this.

Swallow Wasp Air Traffic

There  is  a  testy  sharing  of  the  bird  house.  The  swallow  moves  around  the  wasp  and  the  wasp  does  the  same.  The  swallow  will  sit  just  inside  the  window  while  the  wasp  moves  around  outside  waiting  to  enter.  Then  the  swallow  moves  out  allowing  the  wasp to  go  on  in.    Can  swallows  eat  wasps?

Hare Run Wild

Sitting at my friend Peter's farm waiting for a bird shot and out of the corner of my eye.. movement. Fur not feathers this time. Peter rabbit at Peter's farm didn't notice me until I moved, then he pounded those paws for sudden escape. Racehorse form..eh? Not like the hop of a domestic rabbit.

I must admit this is technically faulty to be honest. The area behind this abandoned barn is closed in under a dark tree canopy and light consists of flashlight beams moving around in the wind. Thus the shadow on Bewick's front  was given a false green look. He is in fact all brown and grey / white. Top of the back is his true colour. TG

Bewick working hard and quickly

Gotta build a home. These Bewick wrens are very secretive and mostly silent, so I was very lucky to find a newly nesting pair. Both sexes look alike.
When they do sing, it is very strong and assured. One did sing, but only once all morning long. The light was stark and the shadows black so out of four in flight shots there was not one keeper. These Berwick come and go at a quick pace compared to other birds. Hard working rascals. TG

Turkeys by the half dozen

These  Turkey  Vultures  fly  undetected  over  our  heads  every  day.  The  simple  reason  is  they  look  just  like  our  numerous  eagles,  so  we  auto - assume  that's  just  what  they  are.  Distant  shot  from  across  the  bay.  TG

Sunset from Secret Plateau

Secret  Plateau  is  inside  Courtenay  boundary,  yet  99%  of  residents  are  not  aware of  this area.   32  large  residential  lots  have  been  surveyed  and  the  digging  for  water  and  sewer  lines  is  now  under  way.   Many  birds  and  mammals  pictured  here  are  taken  on  this  plateau.   View  vistas  are  360  degrees.  Behind  us  are  the  snow  covered  Beaufort  Mountains.  Nice  refuge  going  suburban.  They  are  preserving  a  park  area  though. No  macro  lens?   Fear  not.   When  you  see  an  opportunity  like  this,  just move away  to five or six  feet  and  use  your  70 - 300mm  at  300mm.    A tripod is good  insurance  but  I'm  a  free-hand  risk  taker.  TG

This  kidder  was  doing  the  lame  wing  act,  yet  I  doubt  there  was  any  nest  nearby.  

Comox Marina Special

Trust  Comox  municipal  mandarines  to  come  up  with  a  beautiful  new  blossom  for  their  Marina  Park.

Pollen Collector

He  gets  in  there  and  crawls  around  and  around collecting  that  yellow  powder  into  his  midriff  area.
