We saw a column of thick black smoke leaving A&W on Cliffe. So we drove over and parked on Fitzgerald near 21st avenue and took the walkway through to Dogwood street snapping 17 photos.. One of these made the front page of the Echo newspaper. No one was hurt. So that is a relief.. The garage and car are lost but surprisingly, the home can be restored. It seemed like a total loss at this inferno stage. We have a good fire department in Courtenay B.C.
